Local students named to University of South Carolina honor lists
Local students have been named to the dean's list and/or the president's list at the University of South Carolina for the fall 2006 semester. To appear on the president's honors list, students must take 12 semester credit hours and earn a grade point average of 4.0. For the dean's honors list, students must take 12 semester credit hours and obtain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher (3.25 or higher for freshmen). Fayetteville students named to the list include: Marissa Marie Nolin (president's list, dean's list); Megan Joann Roseen (president's list, dean's list); Lindsay Renee Walker (president's list, dean's list); Stefanie Victoria Norman (dean's list); and Megan Elizabeth Tatum (dean's list). Peachtree City students named to the list include: Kimberly Megan Blair (president's list, dean's list); Katherine Nicole Sauer (president's list, dean's list); Katherine Emma Tunstall (president's list, dean's list); Maxwell Mulligan Elias (dean's list); and Tiffany Lashaun Hinson (dean's list).
Local students receive national recognition
The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS) recently announced that Starr’s Mill High School student Elise M. Prado and McIntosh High School student Rachel L. O’Hara, both from Peachtree City, Ga., have been selected for membership. The society recognizes the top scholars in the nation and invites only those students who have achieved superior academic excellence. The announcement was made by NSHSS Founder and Chairman Claes Nobel, a senior member of the Swedish Nobel family. Prado is an accomplished graphic artist, programmer, and web designer. Her parents are Ron and Kathie Prado; her grandparents are Marin and Janet Prado of Peachtree City, Calvin and Dot Coogler of Brooks, and Patsy and Bobby Jackson of Haralson, Ga. O’Hara is a rising senior at McIntosh. Her parents are Bill and Jessica O’Hara.
