The Fantastic Four: Rubbery Reed Richards, Invisible Sue Storm, Hot Torch-like Johnny Storm, and Hulky Ben Grimm, are back and ready for action. Along with the pressure of being viewed as superheroes by New York City, Reed and Sue are getting married. Problems start when an alien-like creature known only as the Silver Surfer begins to cause difficulties for the Earth. When Johnny chases the shiny silver surfer, he is grabbed by the neck and sent plummeting back to Earth. Reed later finds out that the encounter with the surfer enables Johnny to switch powers with the other three superheroes by touching them. Johnny is not thrilled to become a rocky hulk.

When the Army General in charge of saving the day brings the team’s arch-enemy Victor Von Doom in to help the Four beat the surfer, they are not happy about it. They agree to let him help anyway and discover that Doom knows the source of the surfer’s power. From that point on, they devise a plan to separate the surfer from his power source.

Meanwhile Sue is not happy about any of it. The whole mess is interfering with her marriage to Reed, and she’s worried that if they have children they won’t be able to take care of them because of what they do.

I gave this movie 2.5 stars because it didn’t give me the feeling that it was necessary. Seriously, I would have stopped at the first film because I didn’t feel that excited when I left the theater. I did like the great chase scenes, and some of the comedy. My favorite character was Johnny because he is hilarious, but I didn’t care for Doom coming back or for the angst about the wedding.

Rated PG for sequences of action violence, some mild language and innuendo.
