George Hugh Stell

George Hugh Stell, 92, Fayetteville, died June 22, 2007. He was born May 10, 1915 in Fayette County, son of Hugh Malone and Christine McCollum Stell. It was his father who took photos around the square out of the courthouse clock tower in 1902. He was a salesman throughout his life, and a longtime member of Fayette Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed music and playing his saxophone. Services were at the Fayette Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Garrett Hoffman and the Rev. David Black officiating. Interment was at Fincher Methodist Cemetery, Meansville, Ga. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Pauline "Polly" Stell, Fayetteville; and sisters-in-law, Mary Grace Wilson, Griffin, Virginia Elliott, Newnan, and Frances Ann Stell, Hampton. Memorial donations may be made to the Thornwell Home & School for Children, P. O. Box 60, Clinton, S. C. 29325. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge.
