Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 Orlando F. Castro has been decorated with the Joint Service Achievement Medal. The medal is awarded by the Secretary of Defense to members of the U.S. armed forces for meritorious service, achievement or accomplishment with distinction while assigned to a joint activity. Castro received the medal for serving as a member of Joint Task Force-Katrina. Task force members assisted in disaster relief efforts and provided humanitarian aid to victims and survivors of the Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi along the Gulf coastline. He is an information system technician regularly assigned to Headquarters First U.S. Army at Fort Gillem, Forest Park, Ga. The chief warrant officer 4 has served in the military for 29 years. Castro is the father of Sandra C. O'Meara of Kenway Circle, Smyrna, and Kimberly M. Castro of Fayetteville. login to post comments |
