I am a homeowner in the Wellington Place subdivision. I served as president of the homeowners association from 2004-2006.

The homeowners wants the Fayette County Board of Commissioners to know how much we appreciate the board’s understanding, the willingness to listen, accepting our business case and for making a decision based on facts brought forth concerning traffic conditions in our neighborhood.

The issue is not new; it has been around since 1991, 1995, 2000 and 2007. Each year that passed, our traffic conditions got worse. The homeowners’ association tried to get help from previous boards to no avail.

Traffic has doubled due to the growth of Fayetteville and the county. Motorists use Wellington as a cut-through and the homeowners’ lifestyle has been greatly affected.

Now, we can see a light at the end of the tunnel, thanks to this 2007 Board of Commissioners. We greatly appreciate each one of the commissioners understanding and voting to help our situation. We can now look forward to having a better quality of life and a safer community, thanks to your decision to help.

We would also like to thank other county officials that had input in the decision-making process for traffic-calming devices for Wellington Place.

Fayette County is a great place to live and this board has proven they do care about quality of life and safety for its citizens.

God bless Fayette County and God bless the Board of Commissioners.
