Several businesses moving to ParkwayMon, 06/25/2007 - 8:35am

People by the thousands have been moving into south Fulton in the past few years. Now catching up with that growth is the construction of the first of several commercial developments that will serve the fast-growing area in coming years. The development is Parkway Village, located on the northeast corner of South Fulton Parkway and Ga. Highway 92. A total of 35 businesses are expected to populate the development, according to Watkins Group representative Marlene Green. Businesses purchasing space at the center include Home Depot, Wachovia Bank, Walgreen’s, McCafe and Zaxby’s. Tenants include Publix, Starbucks, Pak Mail, Johnny’s Pizza, China Wok, Presidential Cuts, F & S Spirits, Dr. Renee Samuels (Dentist), Subway, Salon Vibe, Royalty Beauty Supply, an unnamed nail salon and a dry cleaners. The remaining 17 businesses have yet to be announced, said Green. Opening in two phases and currently under construction nearest Hwy. 92 and the parkway, phase one is expected to be ready for customers in November. The anchor for phase one will be a 45,600 square-foot Publix grocery store. Outparcel businesses will provide another 34,718 square feet of retail space. Located immediately to the north along Hwy. 92, phase two of the project will be anchored by a 134,518 square-foot Home Depot, expected to open in February. Five outparcel buildings will be constructed, though the square footage of those structures has not been determined, Green said. Parking accommodations on the preliminary site plan for phase one shows 434 parking spaces along with 450 spaces for Phase 2 businesses. Parkway Village is the first of several commercial centers previously approved or currently under consideration. When completed those developments would include more than a million square feet of shopping. Many of the developments are located inside the 6.5-mile stretch of the parkway annexed last year into Union City. Parkway Village is located in unincorporated south Fulton County, though the development is virtually surrounded on all sides by Union City. login to post comments |
