June is busting out all over in Senoia.

During Monday night, the City council got its first glimpse of the new development planned for the old cotton gin area adjacent to the town’s Main Street and post office.

RiverWood Studio’s Scott Tigchelaar unveiled a preliminary plat showing his company plans to develop the 11-acre site.

“In the area closest to downtown, we’ll have factory lofts on the second floor, with retail underneath,” Tigchelaar said.

The rest of the development will feature 80-dwelling units, including the city’s first brownstones.

“Everything will be built to look like it was originally built around the turn of the 20th century,” he added.

Tigchelaar and his partner, Paul Lombardi, are well on their way towards creating a whole new flavor for the historic Coweta County town.

Currently, workers are constructing a three-story building on Main Street that will house the Redneck Gourmet restaurant, a pub and office space.
