Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will honor Neva Warren for 18 years’ service as church administrator on Sunday, June 24, at 4 p.m.

After a potluck dinner at the church, members of the staff and congregation will pay tribute and “roast” Warren, an Associate in Ministry in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

At the end of June she will move to Ohio with her husband, the Rev. Dr. Ronald Warren, who has accepted a call to serve as head of Lutheran Disaster Response, leaving his position as bishop of the four-state Southeastern Synod of the ELCA after 12 years.

During her service at Christ Our Shepherd, Warren was the church’s financial officer, working with the finance and stewardship committees, and she was responsible for the church’s buildings and grounds.

She taught classes for adults and youth, coordinating the ministry to sixth-graders in the midweek LOGOS program.

She has served on committees, commissions and task forces for the synod and the national church. She is an authority on preventing sexual misconduct among teachers and leaders of children and youth, creating the training program at Christ Our Shepherd.

Warren is sought after as a speaker and Bible study leader and has appeared at synodical and regional women’s events.

Preceding the potluck dinner and “roast,” the church’s new jazz band will lead worship at the 11 a.m. contemporary service in the fellowship hall. At 12:30 p.m. a congregational meeting will take place to consider options for the church’s future.
