The Fayette County Public Library and Friends of the Library sponsored an old fashioned picnic on the grounds and book signing Saturday, June 16th.

The featured author was famed Fayette County native, Dr. Ferrol Sams. His book, "Down Town" has just been released. Over 700 "Sambo" fans stood in line to have their books signed. Due to the heat of the day, the library saw that everyone had a bottle of water, and, if interested, some ice cream. Some people came as far away as South Carolina to get their book signed.

With the book fans and those attending the free hot dog picnic, it is estimated that over 2,000 persons enjoyed the event.
