Palmetto Police and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are seeking two men in connection to a June 8 armed robbery at RBC Bank on Roosevelt Highway. No one was injured in the incident. Two men entered the bank at approximately 3 p.m. and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to Detective John Cooper. The men were last seen entering a vehicle at the nearby Genesis Gardens Apartments, he said. Described as black males wearing masks, one of the men was thought to be in his early 20s, 5’11"-6’1” in height and weighing 230-240 pounds and wearing a long, white shirt and light yellow sweatpants, Cooper said. This man was carrying a nickel-plated handgun, possibly a .45 caliber weapon, he said. The other man was described as being in his early 20s, 5’4”-5’7” in height and weighing 140-160 pounds and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans, said Cooper. Cooper said the handgun was produced as the men entered the bank. They kicked through a door to the teller's area and placed money from cash drawers into white plastic bags they had on their person, said Cooper. Inside the bank for approximately two minutes, the men fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, said Palmetto Police Chief Bobby Fronebarger. A dye bomb went off as the men ran across the bank’s rear parking lot, Cooper said. Cooper said the men ran in a westerly direction, entering Genesis Gardens Apartments a short distance away. He said the men entered a black 1980s model Chevrolet Caprice Classic with dark tint and chrome wheels. The vehicle had been parked in front of Building 13, Cooper said. Fronebarger said detectives from Fairburn and the crime scene unit from Union City assisted in the investigation. Anyone with information relating to the robbery is asked to contact FBI Special Agent Michael Greene at (404) 679-9000 or Palmetto detective John Cooper at (770) 463-9068. login to post comments |
