Mr. and Mrs. Scott Parker of Fayetteville announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittany Renae, to John Matthew Deraney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Deraney Sr. of Fayetteville.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Wayne and Roslyn Townsel, and the late James and Audrey Parker. A 2003 graduate of Fayette County High School and a 2007 graduate of Gardner-Webb University, she is currently studying for her state board exams to become a registered nurse.

The groom-elect is the grandson of Mable Deraney and the late Joe Deraney Sr. and the late Wesley and Irene DeVaughan. A 2002 graduate of Fayette County High School and a 2007 graduate of North Carolina State University, he has recently signed a contract to play for the Detroit Lions in the NFL.

The wedding and reception will be June 30, 2007, at Dunaway Gardens in Newnan. The couple will honeymoon in Mexico.
