Nine cub scouts and their families from Pack 373 sponsored by St. Matthew’s Church in Tyrone visited the World War II aircraft carrier U.S.S. Yorktown in Charleston Harbor over Memorial Day weekend. They slept on board for two nights and ate meals in the Chief’s Mess, visited the new Medal of Honor Museum and aviation displays aboard the U.S.S. Yorktown, and toured the ships WW II Submarine Clamagore, WW II Destroyer Laffey, and WW II Coast Guard Cutter Ingham. They participated in the scientific study of oyster bed restoration and conducted oceanographic experiments such as taking salinity tests, plankton samples, and monitoring weather conditions from the weather decks onboard the Ingham. The cubmaster for Pack 373 is Matt Bramblett. Photo/Special. login to post comments | view originalThis image is copyrighted by The Citizen Newspapers and is intended for private use only.
