Plans to build two 40,000 square-foot medical and professional buildings on Ga. Highway 54 West got the go-ahead from Fayetteville Council members Dec. 1.

Approval of the annexation and rezoning request by Advanced Aesthetics will lead to the consolidation and relocation of the Jonesboro office to Fayetteville.

The proposal called for the annexation and rezoning of two parcels totaling eight acres along Hwy. 54 between Yorktown Drive and Hickory Avenue with a proposed Office & Institutional zoning. The property had been zoned O&I. The site is a current location of one of Advanced Aesthetics offices.

The site is across the highway from Fayette Medical Center and less than two miles east of Piedmont Fayette Hospital.

In an earlier meeting, developer Mike Tallant said the project would include two 40,000-square-foot buildings at a cost of $7 million each, with Advanced Aesthetics occupying 10,000 square feet in the first building constructed.

Five thousand square feet of space will also be dedicated to an ambulatory surgery center, he said.

The project, he added, would benefit the city on several levels. Talent said the remainder of the office space would used by medical and other professional organizations, not retail businesses.

Proposed access to the property will be via a shared drive off Hwy. 54. The buildings will share parking and will be connected by a landscaped walkway with adjacent garden areas.

Tallant said the first building constructed would sit closest to Hwy. 54 and would possibly be positioned parallel to the road. The second of the two buildings is anticipated to sit perpendicular.
