The Fayette County Public Library will honor Dr. Ferrol Sams, 84, on Saturday, June 16 with an old-fashion country picnic in honor of the release of his newest book.

Sams will give a brief talk about the book, entitled “Down Town,” which will be available for purchase and signing from 1-4 p.m.

The celebration, which will be held on the library lawn and in the social hall, will include hot dogs, chicken, and much more, plus live entertainment by Jhelisa Anderson. It is free and open to the public.

When asked about his new book, Sams piques one’s interest by simply saying, with a smile in his voice, “I had a lot of fun writing it.”
The event is sponsored by the Fayette County Public Library and the Friends of the Fayette County Public Library.
