The National Transportation Safety Board has released its findings on an airplane that had a landing mishap at Falcon Field May 10.

The pilot, who was not injured, lost directional control after the main landing gear of the small plane touched down while the tail landing gear was still in the air, the report said.

The plane initially began to veer left, and the pilot corrected to the right but the plane tipped over sideways and the left main landing gear collapsed, the report said.

A small fire that started in the accessory engine of the Canadian Car and Foundry Harvard MK IV plane was put out by the pilot and bystanders with fire extinguishers, the report said.
