American Cancer Society launches ‘Kids for the Cure’ calendar contest

The American Cancer Society’s Cattle Barons’ Ball has launched a casting call for its third annual “Kids for the Cure” calendar contest.

Twelve winning children will be featured in a 2008 calendar that benefits the American Cancer Society, and each winner will receive a photo session with The Memory Cottage Portrait Studio in Fayetteville, a 16” x 20” portrait from their session, and a gift basket from local merchants.

Following the selection of the 12 children, the community will have the opportunity to participate in a fundraising vote to select the “cover kid.” The child earning the most votes, or dollars, will be featured on the cover of the 2008 calendar and receive numerous prizes, including a $600 gift package from Serendipity Baby & Co. and a $350 portrait package from The Memory Cottage.

To enter the calendar contest, parents must submit a Kids for the Cure calendar contest entry form, along with a non-returnable 4” x 6” photo of their child, age 5 or younger, and a $25 tax-deductible entry fee per photo to the American Cancer Society’s Fayetteville office. All entry fees and proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Calendar contest entry forms are available at: The Memory Cottage, 100 Genevieve Court, Fayetteville, 770-631-7676; Serendipity Baby & Co., 1251 N. Peachtree Parkway, Peachtree City, 678-364-0012; and at other Fayette County retailers. Entries must be postmarked by June 15, 2007, and mailed to The American Cancer Society, Kids for the Cure Contest, 135 Bradford Square, Suite B, Fayetteville, Ga. 30215.

In the last two years, the calendar contest has raised more than $35,000 for the American Cancer Society. It is sponsored by The Memory Cottage, Serendipity Baby & Co. and The Citizen Newspapers and held in conjunction with the American Cancer Society’s Cattle Barons’ Ball Fayette County, which will be held this fall on Nov. 3 at Riverwood Studios in Senoia.
