Summer Camps

• The Fayette County Recreation Department will offer many summer camps this year. Early registration is encouraged as programs/events fill up fast. Pre-registration for all programs is required. At some point we must determine if enrollment is sufficient to hold the activity. Your cooperation will assist us in providing the best organization and administration of our programs. • Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Department will offer a four day Swimming and Art Camp from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on June 11-14 and June 18-21 for rising 1st-6th graders. During this camp, students will attend three different sessions daily: Half our day will be divided to having “fun in the sun” in the Aquatic Center children’s pool and our activity/game time and the other half will be filled in our art center working on three different projects. Students need to bring a sack lunch, drink, swimming suit and towel everyday to camp. The cost of this camp is $124 with a $10 discount to siblings attending together. • Tyrone Recreation will offer a Baseball Camp at Handley Park June 18-22 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. For ages 7-13. Cost: $185. Sharpen all basic fundamentals such as fielding, pitching, hitting, base runnung. Staffed by the experts from the Dug Out Club. • Princess Pirouette Camp: Dancers will explore the art of ballet and dance from many cultures. Students will showcase their talents in a workshop performance on the last day of camp. Grades: K-3. • Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Department will offer the Kedron Little Hoopsters Basketball Camp for children ages 4-6 from June 18-22 from 9-11 a.m. at the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatics Center. This camp is designed to help your child learn and develop skills that will make them successful in basketball and other sports. There will be activities and games as well as instructions on the game of basketball. The camp experience is a collection of the best ingredients available: staff, skills and teaching style. • Master Scuba Diving Instructor and Georgia Aquarium Diver James Gilchrist will instruct the Sgt. Scuba Inc. Youth Aquatic Program camp June 11-15 at the Sgt. Scuba Campus, Fairburn, Ga. • The Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Department will offer “Fusion” Teen Trip Camp and “Camp MacAttackular.” Trips are planned each and every day. Fusion Camp is for ages 11-14 yrs. Camp MacAttackular is for ages 7-11. Camp MacAttackular is scheduled for July 23-27 from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Cost is $140 for Fayette County residents, and $210 for out of county. “Camp Fusion” Teen Trip Camps will have four one week sessions beginning June 18-22 and ending July 23-27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $140 for Fayette County residents, and $210 for out of county. • The Legacy Theatre will host Disney’s “High School Musical” all day theatre camp. Mon.-Fri., July 9-13 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Cost is $300. A deposit of $150 will be due when registering with remainder due June 1. This all-day camp will let your child experience private voice lessons, dance classes, theatre games and much more. They will also be learning a number to be performed as pre-show entertainment for a production of “High School Musical.” All classes are taught by theatre professionals at south metro Atlanta’s only full time professional theatre, The Legacy Theatre located just off Ga. • Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Department will offer the Gotta Volley- Girls Volleyball Camp for girls in upcoming grades 6-9 who are interested in learning the game of volleyball June 25-29 from 9-3 p.m. at the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatics Center. Fundamentals of volleyball (serving, passing, setting, spiking) will be taught with an emphasis on teamwork. At the end of the week, all the girls will participate in a real volleyball tournament. Each girl registered will receive a t-shirt and volleyball. Swim time is allowed each day during the lunch break. The girls will need to bring their own lunch. Appropriate gym shoes are required. • Fayette Art Center and Gallery, 2011 West Hwy. 54, Fayetteville, will offer summer art camp starting June 4. Cost is $140/week plus $20 material fee (clay). Mon-Fri.,10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Morning sessions are painting and drawing. Afternoons vary per day of the week. Intro to photography & editing, pottery - wheel and slab, and design work (jewelry, architecture, fabric design). Ending the week of July 23-27. Call 770-631-2780 for info.

• Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Department will offer the Kedron Junior High Hoop Camp June 12-15 from 9-12 p.m. at the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatics Center. This co-ed camp is geared towards junior high students age 11- 15 yrs. who want to develop their game. This camp will provide instruction on passing, shooting, defense, individual moves and much more. There will be games played daily as well as contests. There will be prizes for the winners of each contest! Each camper will receive a trophy and a t-shirt. There will be an optional swim time each day of camp. • Atheltic and dance summer camps at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School. Registration is currently open for volleyball, football, boys and girls basketball and dance. • Fayette County/Whitewater Summer All-star Basketball Camp for boys & girls ages 7-14. Session 1: June 11-15 at WHS; Session 2: July 23-27 at FCHS. Cost: $150 per week. • Offshoot Productions will offer Creating Fairy Tale Theatre camp through the Tyrone Recreation Department. The camp runs July 16-20, meeting each day from 1 to 4:15 p.m. Open to young actors ages 6-14, the camp will employ improvisation, scripts, music and, importantly, the participants’ imagination. The campers will form a unique acting ensemble to create a short play which they will perform for an invited audience. This camp is suitable both for those with theatre experience and for newcomers to the stage. The camp costs $90. • Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Department will offer the Creativity in Motion Art Camp for children in 2nd through 7th grades July 23-27 from 10:30-3:30 p.m. at the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatics Center. Activities will include a variety of art techniques and mediums inspired by movement. Campers will complete at least two or three projects a day such as windmills, action painting and sculpting, windsocks and chimes. • Camp Broadway: Do you dream of performing on Broadway? Learn to become a triple threat from Broadway star Kay McClelland and dance professional Kathleen Senger. This music camp will focus on singing, dancing, acting, audition tips, theatre make-up and performance skills. Students will produce a workshop performance on the last day of camp. Grades: 4-8. • Images Studio will offer three weeks of art camp. Children ages 7-14 may enroll by emailing imagesart1@bellsouth.net or online at www.imagesgallery.biz. Younger children will need to be evaluated for ability to work on task. Campers will recieve their camp T-shirt and spend five fun filled days with some of Coweta’s finest art instructors. They will complete a matted watercolor, a canvas floor cloth, a charcoal sketch, decorative wind chimes, a mosaic for the smaller hands and a stained glass piece for the older children. Class time will run 10 a.m.-3 p.m. with a 30 minute break for lunch. Children will need to bring a sack lunch, drinks and snacks provided by Images. Dates for each session June 4-8, June 18-22, and June 25-29. Cost for each session is $120 with $20 due by May 26 to reserve your spot. Only 20 spots are available per session. • Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Department will offer the Creative Critters Art Camp July 16-20 at the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatics Center. Kids ages 3-4 will meet from 9:15- 10:30 a.m. and those 5-6 will attend from 10:45- 12:15 p.m. Artists will practice their technique using a variety of art mediums such as painting and sculpture borrowing our inspiration from many of our furry, feathered and scaly friends. • Little Art Garden is offering summer Mommy & Me Art Classes for children ages 2-4. Each one hour class includes four art experiences, two textures and a circle time with bubbles, stories, songs, parachute games and so much more. Summer classes will be held at 10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. on Fridays at the new Shenanigan’s Jump Zone on Ga. Highway 74. Class size is limited. Register online at www.littleartgarden.com/classes. • The Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Department will offer Camp McIntosh, an adventure camp like no other, this summer. Camp McIntosh now meets at Glenloch Recreation Center, 1086 Stevens Entry in PTC (next to the Glenloch Soccer Fields). Hours are 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Ages are 6-11. On M, W, F we stay at camp and swim at the Glenloch Pool and plan group activities, sports, art craft and other fun and creative stuff! Tuesdays and Thursdays hours are 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. On these days we go on trips to Six Flags, Whitewater, Stone Mountain and much more. All trips are included in the price. Camp McIntosh costs $100 for Fayette County residents ($148 out of county). First camp begins June 4-8. Last camp is July 16-20. • Fayette County/Whitewater All Star Basketball Camp - Session I: June 11-15 at WHS and Session II: July 23-27 at FCHS. Boys and girls, rising 2nd-9th graders. Mon.-Thur. from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. and Fri. 9 a.m.-noon. Camp run by FCHS head coach Andre’ Flynn and WHS head coach Brent Jackson. Cost: $150 per camper. Please bring a lunch. • The Starr’s Mill High School Pantherette Dance Camp will be held in the SMHS cafeteria June 25-28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day. Rising 2nd graders through rising seventh graders are invited to participate in this week of fast action dancing with the Georgia Dance Championship runner-up Pantherettes. • Exploring Your Backyard, a high school summer biology camp featuring a comprehensive week of natural resource adventures, exploring, and more, will be held July 10-18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Camp activities consist of: Forest ecosystem identification and mapping; Box turtle collection and tracking; Stream ecosystem and macroinvertebrate identification; and GPS orientation and training. • Peachtree City Parks and Recreation Department will offer a Judo/All Sports Camp for kids 5-12 yrs. of age. While the camps’s focus is on self-defense, that only takes up a couple of hours a day. The rest of the time will be spent swimming, playing basketball, sodge ball, whiffleball, as well as participating in team competitions such as running relays and other team events. All participants need to bring a bathing suit, change of clothes, a bag lunch, drink and a towel. Camps will run July 2-6, July 16-20 and July 30-August 3. Camp times are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Kedon Fieldhouse and Aquatics Center. Cost is $154. All students will receive a camp shirt as well as drinks and snacks each day of camp.

• Camp Avenue will take place every Thursday, in June and July beginning June 7 at The Avenue in Peachtree City in Central Park from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Activities include Camp Avenue pet parade, customize your own jr. briefcase, decorate a hat for dad, plant a flower, balloon art, story time and more. While all activities at Camp Avenue are complimentary, campers are asked to bring school supplies to each event to benefit local organizations. Supplies collected at the Peachtree City location will benefit the Fayette County Children At Risk in Education (CARE) Program. Supplies like standard crayon packs, markers, notebooks, pocket pouches and oversized erasers are a few of the items most requested, along with backpacks. Camp Avenue is designed for children ages 3-10. Each camper must be accompanied by an adult (parent or guardian) at all times during the Camp Avenue activity.
