Mr. and Mrs. Thomas B. McGahey III of Palm Coast, Fla., formerly of Peachtree City, announce the engagement of their daughter, Laura Elizabeth McGahey, to Charles Martin Van Pelt, son of Mrs. Linda Keever of Peachtree City, and Charles G. Van Pelt of Jonesboro.

The bride-to-be is a 1997 graduate of McIntosh High School and a graduate of Birmingham Southern College. She currently is a graduate student at Georgia State University and is an information technology consultant.

The groom-elect is a 1998 graduate of McIntosh High School and a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is an employee benefits specialist for The Standard Insurance Company.

An August wedding is planned.
