Vote nears for Chatt HillsMon, 06/04/2007 - 8:29am
By: Ben Nelms
The June 19 vote in Chatt Hills will consist of one question: “Shall the act incorporating the City of Chattahoochee Hill Country in Fulton County and granting homestead exemption described therein be approved?” Voters in the special election for the city-hood of Chattahoochee Hills have three ways to cast ballots in the June 19. They can vote at the polls on election day or they can vote absentee by mail or absentee in-person, which includes the “advance voting” period. Advance voting will take place through June 15. Polls on election day will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19. Polling locations include Fulton County Fire Station No. 9, located at 6615 Rico Road and Palmetto Elementary School, located at 505 Carlton Road. Voters who cast their absentee ballot in-person between now and June 8 will need to state a reason for voting absentee. Those who vote in-person during “advance voting” the week before the election (Monday, June 11 through Friday, June 15) will not be required to provide a reason for casting an absentee ballot. In-person absentee ballots can be cast on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at one of three locations. The South Fulton Service Center is located at 5600 Stonewall Tell Road, Room 105, in College Park. The phone number at the center is (770) 306-3050. The Fulton County Government Center is located at 141 Pryor Street SW, Suite 4064 in Atlanta. The phone number is (404) 730-7072. The North Fulton Service Center is located at 7741 Roswell Road, Room 209 in Atlanta. The phone number is (770) 551-7675. Citizens unable to vote in person can vote absentee by faxing or mailing a written request for an absentee ballot. Voters who make their request by fax must give a reason, such as being away from the precinct on election day, being an election official or public servant on duty during the entire time the polls are open, having a physical disability, observing a religious holiday, or being age 75 or older. The request letter needs to include the name and date of the election, voter’s name, address as registered, and date of birth. Also, include the address where the ballot is to be mailed, daytime phone number and voter’s signature. Voters who make their request by mail do not have to provide a reason for voting absentee. If the request is made by a relative, the relative must sign the request and state the relationship to the voter. The absentee ballot request should be sent to: Fulton County Voter Registration, Attn: Absentee Ballot, 141 Pryor St., SW, Suite 4064, Atlanta, GA 30303. The fax number is 404-730-8839.
