The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution made history as they formally welcomed the newest chapter into its fold. The James Waldrop Chapter NSDAR was officially organized in Fayetteville on April 21, with a total of 42 members.

Members and guests joined together as the new chapter officers and members were sworn into their duties. Members of the Marquis de Lafayette Chapter Sons of the American Revolution provided the color guard for the ceremony.

The DAR is the world's largest non-profit women's service organization and their mission is to promote education, patriotism and preserve American History.

The chapter was named for the American Revolution Patriot James Waldrop who fought for Virginia but relocated to Fayette County in the early 1820s. He and his wife are buried in Fayetteville.
