In the Carrollton BlueFin Invitational, Whitewater High School had several swimmers with great finishes.

David Menchinger placed first in the 200 yard free and the 100 yard backstroke, qualifying for the state meet in both events and bringing his season total up to four. Cassandra Heimann placed third in both the 200 individual medley and the 100 breast, improving on her state qualifying time. Jared Toro placed third in the 50 freestyle while Peter Menke placed eighth. Toro also placed second in the 100 freestyle.

According to Coach Elizabeth Loewecke, most of the swimmers posted huge drops in their times. Catharine Groover in the 100 yard freestyle and Jessica Johnson in the 50 yard freestyle decreased their times in those events by five seconds, while Chris Edwards decreased his time in the 50 yard freestyle by 10 seconds. Ten or more seconds were shaved off of the following swimmer’s individual 100 yard freestyle times: Edwards, Toby King, Candice Smith, Johnson and Sarah Turner. Kely Menchinger cut his 100 yard backstroke time by 11 seconds.

In addition to these great decreases in times, the junior varsity team placed fifth out of 14 teams competing.
