Top runners at local schools selected for special training

The Precor Company has invited 14 of Fayette County’s top cross country runners and their coaches to participate in an internationally based training session.

The boys chosen to participate are:
• David Zitelli, FCHS, 17:28
• Michael Mateos, MHS, 16:14
• Matt Lethbridge, OLM, 16:37
• Jason Veclotch, SCHS, 17:18
• Austin Enriquez, SMHS, 16:06
• Josh Adair, WHS, 17:41

The girls selected to participate are:
• Claire Bergstrom, FCHS, 20:47
• Emily Borsare, MHS, 16:59
• Sarah Hohenberger, OLM, 20:50
• Christine Dunphy, SCHS, 20:00
• Ginny Balckom, SMHS, 20:02
• Kasie Knapper, WHS, 19:51

Two eighth grade runners showing promise have also been invited by Precor, Mary Roberts (19:58) from Whitewater Middle School and James Breest (18:56) Fayette Middle School.

Internationally recognized experts in sports training Precor has requested a training session for the runners based on best practices from around the world. “We are delighted to fund this opportunity in the hope that these runners will gain additional insights that will assist them and their teammates in reaching new personal records,” said Jim Ries, Precor’s Regional Sales Manager.

Precor has asked Janet Caldwell, author, instructor, and certified personal trainer to conduct the runner’s session. “My goal is to help the runners explore a balanced exercise program including strength, endurance, speed, and flexibility that is sport specific,” said Caldwell.

Precor is a manufacturer of high-end fitness equipment including elliptical cross-trainers, treadmills, cycles, climbers, and strength trainers. Precor has a heritage of clinical credibility working in close collaboration with a leading cardiovascular research institution The Cooper Clinic and with University of Oregon Biomechanics experts.
