The Fayetteville Police Department is asking parents to take 25 minutes Thursday, May 25 to speak with their children about child safety issues.

The "Take 25" campaign for National Missing Children's Day includes a web site, www.Take25.org, that features 25 ways to improve child safety. Topics range from safety at school to safety on the Internet.

The site also provides tips for parents and teachers on how to talk about safety and communicate with kids in a way that is very positive and non-threatening.

This month students at Fayette Middle School participated in various activities to observe National Missing Children's Day.

"We're excited about raising awareness about these important issues and providing our students with the tools and information to help them be safer," said school resource officer J.D. Lakeman of the Fayetteville Police Department.
