Fayette County budget talks continued Thursday, with Fayette Senior Services asking county commissioners for an increase that would nearly double the current funding level.

Responding to a question by Chairman Jack Smith about the specific use of the $105,631 allocation, senior services Executive Director Andy Carden said the amount goes purely and directly toward contracted meals.

Carden outlined other budget requests totaling another $100,000, including $40,000 to cover the full cost in providing meals and $60,000 to cover the occupancy costs associated with new senior’s center, expected to be ready around Jan. 1.

Commissioners noted a $1 million endowment to the senior services by a Peachtree City resident. Up to five percent of that amount could be drawn down to meet certain expenses, Carden said.
