Palmer D. Bridges, 81, McDonough, died May 10, 2007. He was born Oct. 31, 1925 in Cordele. He was a retired captain of Republic Airline, formerly Southern Airways. He was graduated from Americas High School and in 1943 enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps. After discharge, he was a civilian flight instructor at the Bainbridge Air Base. He began flying with Southern Airways as a pilot and retired in 1984. Services were at the Overton Chapel, First Baptist Church of Fayetteville, with the Rev. Glenn Stringham officiating. Interment was at Camp Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, the former Arbie Ann Strange, McDonough; children, Donna and Gerry Adams, Stockbridge, Lee and Gennie Bridges, Smithville, Tenn., and Debbie and Doug Walker, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Gene and Amy Adams, Jeff Adams, Jerni and Altemar Rivera, Bo and Tracee Bridges, Heather Bridges, Jo Ana and Ashley Schire, Susanna Walker, Maddie Walker, and Molly Walker; great-grandchildren, Patrick Adams, Bonnie Adams, Claire Adams, Lee Palmer, and Caleb Bridges; and a sister, Eleanor Akridge, Jacksonville, Fla. Memorial donations may be made to Southwest Christian Hospice, 7225 Lester Rd., Union City, GA 30291. Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville, was in charge. login to post comments |
