The Army Ground Forces Band to play in Fayetteville, May 26

The Army Ground Forces Band will perform "Honoring the Spirit of America," a celebration through patriotic music and song, May 26 at the Villages Amphitheater in Fayetteville.

The free, public concert begins at 7:30 p.m., and it will be the first time FORSCOM's premier, touring band will perform at this popular venue
on the south side of Atlanta.

This concert in Fayetteville, will also be the third performance in the Band's Memorial Day concert series. The first two concerts in series are a May 24 performance in Covington, Ga., and another in Suwannee,Ga., May 25.

"We will perform a number of patriotic favorites in a variety of styles, including the music of Sousa, Williams, Goldman, Fitzgerald, and
Bennett," said Maj. Daniel J. Steiger, commander and principal conductor of the Army Ground Forces Band. "There will also be a musical treat for the audience when we feature our Bass Trombonist, Sgt. Brian Talley, in the Wind Ensemble premiere of Brubeck's "James Brown in the Twilight Zone."

The Villages Amphitheater is located at 301 LaFayette Avenue in Fayetteville. The gates open at 6:30 p.m. Chairs will be provided for

The Army Ground Forces Band, which calls Fort McPherson (in Atlanta) home, is an outreach asset for U.S. Army Forces Command. The 58 Soldiers assigned to the Band have all passed a highly selective audition, and are among the finest musicians in the U.S. Army Band Program. The majority of the Band's members have studied music at some of the finest universities and conservatories in the United States and abroad. The Band performs about 300 concerts annually in support of local, regional,and national events, such as centennial celebrations, festivals,
inaugurations, and both city and state commemorations.

The Band's various ensembles frequently travel throughout the country,performing several concert tours each year. In addition to its outreach mission, the Band also serves as the primary Army ceremonial unit at Fort McPherson, supporting numerous military ceremonies, and performing for visiting American and foreign dignitaries throughout the year.
