Southern Crescent Chorale closes season with tribute to the "Fabulous Fifties"

The Southern Crescent Chorale’s 2006-07 season concludes on May 19 at 8:15 p.m. at The Villages Amphitheater, when the chorale will perform "The Fabulous Fifties."

The Village’s Amphitheater, located in historic Fayetteville, provides a perfect venue for a step back in time and reminiscing as the chorale performs over 20 favorites from the fifties including “Rock Around the Clock,” “Unchained Melody,” “Only You,” “Elvis Gold Medley,” “Blueberry Hill” and “Sandman.”

Accompanying the chorale will be guest Doo Wopper Eugene Tompkins. Tompkins started his career performing with the Limelighters in 1956.
In addition, soloist Nathan Phillips will be singing several Elvis hits as well as the Jerry Lee Lewis hit "Great Balls of Fire" and the Big Bopper hit "Chantilly Lace." Returning for another appearance at the Villages Amphitheater, The Don McSwain Band will perform with chorale and features saxophonist Don McSwain. Accomplished pianist Dr. Amy Foster will again accompany the chorale making this an evening that you don’t want to miss.

Doors open at 7 p.m. so come early to view vintage cars from the ‘50s and listen to pre-concert music from the decade. Catering will be provided by Back Yard Burger.

In addition, patrons will be allowed to bring their own food and beverage refreshments as allowed by the amphitheater. More information may be obtained by visiting www.villagesamphitheater.com.

The dance floor will be open all night and a special call out dance will honor reunion classes of the ‘50s. Patrons are encouraged to come to the concert dressed in ‘50s attire and those that do will be eligible to enter a drawing for dinner for two at the City Café located in Fayetteville.
