Illegal aliens plan attack on Ft. DixTue, 05/15/2007 - 4:42pm

Many have written in about the illegal immigration issue, warning of the dangers of ignoring this important issue. And, while our Congress wrestles with how to handle the issue without upsetting potential voters, our nation becomes ever so vulnerable to terrorist attacks from within our own borders. For those who don’t keep current with the events of the day, this past week saw the arrest of six individuals who had been planning an attack on Fort Dix, New Jersey, with the intention of killing as many U.S. troops and their families as they could. Three of the attackers were illegal aliens. It’s estimated that as high as nearly 40 million illegal immigrants may be here in the U.S. The concern should not be whether they are Hispanic, Arab or another ethnic group, but rather that they are here illegally. Not everyone who comes to our country has altruistic motives, as evidenced by the most recent arrests. While the Statute of Liberty has engraved on it, “Give me your tired and your poor,” it doesn’t say, “Give me your crooks, thieves, terrorists and killers.” The time is coming when we will see terrorist attacks within our borders. When that happens the American people will have no one to blame but themselves and the politicians they have elected. As for me, I will write my senators and congressmen demanding closed borders and the removal of all illegal aliens. David Hedlund Newnan, Ga. login to post comments |
