Volunteers from Fayette County were among those helping strengthen the community as part of the 19th annual National & Global Youth Service Day. Across the metro area, an estimated 4,500 Hands On Atlanta volunteers participated in over 60 youth-led service projects that address literacy, hunger, public safety, the environment, and other important issues in their communities. National & Global Youth Service Day is sponsored locally by The Coca-Cola Company, and State Farm Companies Foundation serves as the national presenting sponsor.

National & Global Youth Service Day is the annual highlight of Hands On Atlanta’s Youth Service Program. Volunteers from the Youth Service Advisory Board worked diligently over several weeks to develop and organize projects that will directly benefit the metro Atlanta region.

Youth Service Advisory Board member, Brittni Collins, a Fayetteville resident, developed two projects at the North Fayette Elementary School and the Awareness Wash at Wal-Mart. Volunteers at North Fayette Elementary School provided tutoring and writing assistance to students.
