The McIntosh Boy’s lacrosse team recently closed their season suffering a tough loss to Northview HS in the state quarterfinals held at McIntosh. In an exciting game the Titans surprised McIntosh jumping to a three-goal lead very early in the first quarter. The young McIntosh squad battled back to tie the game and take a 7-4 lead into halftime. The third quarter proved to be the difference as Northview took the lead and held on for a final 11-9 victory.

The 2007 season proved to be a season full of record setting achievements for the young Chiefs, which will be returning all but one senior next season from this year’s playoff team. McIntosh set the school record for most goals scored in a season, individual scoring records by DJ and Zack Ward, Face Off records by Joe Maskery and Brennan Ott, Ground Ball records set by David Bexley, and Garrett Lee as well as the least amount of goals given up in a season with freshman Goalie Cooper O’Brien.

The team also accomplished the most wins in a season, fewest number of losses, first region title, first appearance in the state playoffs, first state playoff win in school history, All State recognition for DJ and Zack Ward, All League for David Bexley, and Coach of The Year recognition for Coach Mike Muetzel. In addition both the boys and girls lacrosse teams from McIntosh received “Surprise Team of the Year” recognition from the AJC.

The Chiefs finish the heralded season with a 14-5 record, and ranked sixth in the State of Georgia by laxpower.com.

The boys return 28 players for next year including top scorers DJ and Zack Ward, Garrett Lee, Nicco DeRosa, Caleb Benson, Cam Elward, Brian Huefner, Jack Bornhofen as well as the entire starting defense led by Bexley, Simms, Milani, Scheumann, and Nathan DeRosa.
