An elderly Fayetteville man was knocked unconscious and robbed Friday afternoon in his home off Gingercake Road, and a suspect in the attack has been identified, police said Monday.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Arnold Bernard Wesley Jr., 23, of Atlanta, said Lt. Col. Bruce Jordan of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office. The U.S. Marshals fugitive task force is tracking down Wesley, who is believed to have fled to Texas, Jordan said.

The victim’s car and ATM card were taken in the robbery, along with several guns and other items from the home on Lady Carolyn Court, Jordan said. The victim, 67, was flown to a hospital for treatment and is recovering and able to help detectives, Jordan said.

The victim recalled being hit from behind before losing consciousness, but wasn’t sure what he was hit with, Jordan said. He was found a few hours after the attack by his wife, who had been out shopping, Jordan added.

The case is not considered a home invasion because the suspect was an employee of the victim, who owned a lawn care service, Jordan said.
