Family concert comes to the Villages

Disney’s Imagination Movers

This Saturday, May 12 Fayette County’s first-ever kids concert by Disney’s Imagination Movers will take stage at the Villages Amphitheater in Fayetteville.

Disney’s Imagination Movers concert is sponsored by The Citizen Newspapers, Coweta-Fayette EMC, Brewster’s and Radio Disney.

Recently signed to the Disney label, the Imagination Movers are a kid-friendly band on the national music scene and were featured on the Playhouse Disney Channel in 2006.

The Movers sing about messy rooms, healthy snacks, sibling rivalry and other topics that relate to being a little kid on their critically acclaimed CDs “Calling All Movers,” “Good Ideas” and "Eight Feet" and the DVD “Stir It Up.” Their musical style, however, would sound right at home on a weekly pop radio countdown.

The Movers – Rich, Scott, Dave and Smitty -- began in New Orleans in 2003 and now are fast-rising stars on the national kids music scene thanks to their combination of radio-friendly songs, kid-friendly themes and dynamic live shows. In concert, the Movers teach high-energy dances, play games with the audience and make music on their one-of-a-kind trash can drum set. Kids and parents help perform new kids classics like “The Wah-Wah Song,” “Clean My Room,” “What’s in the Fridge?” and “Looking Out the Window.”

They have won 14 national music awards and were named a “Parenting Pick” by Parenting Magazine in 2005.

“Main Street Fayetteville is partnering with Radio Disney, The Citizen and Bruster’s to bring this unique concert to the children of our community,” said Nancy Price, director of Main Street Fayetteville. “We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy this energetic group your children love to dance and sing along with on TV.”

The concert also will feature interactive exhibits by local businesses featuring food, fun and more.

Opening for the Movers will be renowned kids magician Ken Scott. Scott has over 20 years of experience, performing over 350 shows a year. He has entertained over a million people with his unique cutting edge programs and was voted Greater Atlanta Entertainer of the year. Scott was also featured on CNN Headline News, where he headlined their segment on A Day of Magic. He performs yearly in Hollywood, Calif. at The World Famous Magic Castle, which is home to the Academy of Magical Arts.

Scott also has been invited to perform at the White House three times. He travels around the world teaching other entertainers his original ideas and routines that he has written and developed. Scott also writes monthly columns in children’s performers publications called “The Funny Paper” and the “Kidabra Journal.”

Scott will take stage at 6 p.m. and the Movers are set to begin at 7 p.m. Gates will open at 5 p.m.
