Mother of the Year 40-60 winner One of a kind Submitted by Christie Philyan My mom should definitely be chosen as Mother of the Year. She has taken on the role of “Mom” all over again. My sister passed away in 1997 and left behind two beautiful young ladies ages 8 and 9. She never skipped a beat as to what she needed to do. You might be saying to yourself, well a lot of grandmothers have to raise their grandchildren these days. Well, that might be true. But my Mom also has the tremendous responsibility of taking care of my brother 24 hours a day. In 1995, he was diagnosed with chronic progressive multiple sclerosis. She spends many countless days and nights making sure Shawn is comfortable. or just keeping him company because he has to spend the majority of the time in his room. Mom never thinks of herself and somehow manages to get through the day with very little to no sleep at all. Well, I take that back, she manages through the grace of God, who sustains her. She actually isn’t in the best of health herself. She has been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, degenerative disc disease and lupus. So when everyone else her age is sitting back to relax, she isn’t because she just can’t. She just takes her medicine and keeps right on going. Her attitude is that she is alright as long as everyone else is first. Mom’s favorite time of year is spring and summer. She always has a big and wonderful vegetable garden. She says that going to her garden is her therapy. You just wouldn’t believe how beautiful she is able to keep everything with such little time she has to spare. Along with her vegetable garden she also has several roses and flowers she takes care of. I say that just looking at what she does outside provides everyone who sees it therapy. I could go on and on about my precious mom. I pray that you choose her as Mother of the Year. You won’t meet anyone else like her. She deserves to be pampered and showered with gifts and praise like no other. She truly is the one you are searching for. Thank you for your time and consideration. login to post comments |
