‘Leading by example’

Susan Webber

Susan Webber - 56, Peachtree City

I remember our mom working hard, and there were those rare days and nights when we couldn’t be with her, but I also remember having everything my heart desired. I still can’t figure out how she did it. She stayed up nights and created artful, tender messages of love, featuring our favorite toys or cartoons, on napkins to go in our school lunches.

We learned early on as young girls, that education was important, because we couldn’t be sure that a prince charming would be there to take care of us. Leading by example, she went back to school...at 38 years old. Susan worked evenings and went to school and then to work and so on and so forth until she earned her Associates in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse.

At 56, she’s still mothering, opening up her home to friends and family in need of a place to lay their heads, offering words of wisdom or simply a shoulder to cry on.
