A 17-year-old Tyrone man was charged with weapons offenses and making terroristic threats after altercations May 4 and 5 at a friend’s house in Fayetteville.

Joseph Wilson was charged with making terroristic threats, pointing a gun at another and possession of a handgun by a person under age 18, according to Fayetteville Police spokesperson Beverly Trainor.

The May 4 incident occurred at a North Jeff Davis residence when Wilson and others at the residence were picking on each other, according to the incident report. Wilson became agitated, then produced a silver handgun and began pointing it at several people at the residence, officers said. Wilson was held down while the the gun was taken from him, Trainor said. Wilson was subsequently told to leave the residence, she said.

Wilson returned the next day, asking for the gun, the report said. Residents told Wilson the gun had been hidden and refused to give it to him, Trainor said. Wilson became agitated and threatened to return to the residence and “shoot it up,” Trainor said. Residents called police after the exchange and reported the incident.

Fayetteville Police took possession of the .45-caliber Colt handgun and returned it the Wilson’s father, Trainor said. Wilson subsequently turned himself into the police and was charged.
