The Atlanta Braves and AT&T have recognized three Fayette teachers for excellence in education.

Ashley Williams, Sara Harp Minter Elementary, Bonnie Hicks, Whitewater Middle and Jack Jean, Whitewater High are among 24 metro Atlanta teachers selected from over 1,000 nominations to receive the 2007 Atlanta Braves/AT&T Excellence in Education award. The teachers were honored during on-field ceremonies on May 7 and 8.

Students, parents and peers nominate educators for the award, which recognizes and rewards individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and excellence in teaching. The goal of the award program is to honor excellence in classroom education and provide a forum to showcase outstanding educators whose efforts and examples have inspired their students, colleagues and the communities they serve.

An Atlanta Braves/AT&T panel judged the 2007 nominations. All teachers, principals and guidance counselors in the metro Atlanta area were eligible for nomination.

Winners received four complimentary tickets to the game at which they were being honored and were presented with a certificate, plaque and other prizes.
