For the past 12 months, members of Fayette Presbyterian Church have been celebrating 50 years of worship, service and fellowship in the Fayette County area, and have featured guest speakers, hosted covered dish suppers and provided activities for young and old. On Saturday, May 19, the church opens its doors to the community for Spring Fling — an outdoor festival of music, food and fellowship. Tickets are $4 in advance and $5 at the door, and the festival runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Performing throughout the day will be Kevin Wyglad and Chasing Grace, Blue Project, The Time After (from Harp’s Crossing), The Fayetteville Christian Church Worship & Praise Band, and Fayette Presbyterian Church Praise Band. Plus, there will be bingo, face painting, raffle giveaways, giant inflatables, hot dog lunches, garden demonstrations, baked goods, and much more. On Sunday, May 20, Fayette Presbyterian Church will celebrate its 50th birthday at both the 8:30 a.m. contemporary service and the 11 a.m. traditional service. A commemorative quilt, made of individual squares pieced by current members of the congregation, will be presented. Former pastors and charter members will be in attendance and dinner on the grounds will follow the 11 a.m. service. Fayette Presbyterian Church is at 791 Ga. Hwy. 92 North in Fayetteville. Senior pastor is Garrett Hoffmann and associate pastor is Cliff Haddox.
