Landmark Christian School wrestling coach Fred Gilkeson has a fairly young team competing this year. There are two seniors, Tim Creamer and David White, and one junior, Sam Brown. The rest of the team is made up of six freshmen and five sophomores. Wrestling in area 2-A, the War Eagles will face four teams ranked in the top 10 of the GaSports.com pre-season coaches poll; Jefferson (2), Washington-Wilkes (3), Truetlen (5) and Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy (7).

Landmark got their schedule going yesterday with matches against St. Francis and Our Lady of Mercy and will compete in the Pace tournament next weekend before hosting a tournament on Dec. 16 and 17. This will be a season for the young wrestlers at Landmark to gain experience and by the time the area tournament rolls around, Feb. 3-4, they may be ready to make some noise.
