OLM boys win third straight region track title

On Tuesday night, May 1, the Our Lady of Mercy boys track team completed a "3-peat" winning the Class A Region 5A championship for the third year in a row.

Freshman Christian Willis won the region championship in the high jump and was the region runner up in the 800 meter. He was also part of the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams that won the region. Sophomore Jake Lethbridge won the region championship in the 800 meter, 1,600 meter and the triple jump. He was also part of the 4x400 relay region champion team. Sophomore Matt Lethbridge was the region runner up in the 1,600 meter and the region champion in the 3,200 meter.

Junior Thomas Raville was the region runner up in the 3,200 meter. Senior Josh Grayson was the region runner up in the 100 meter and was part of the region champion 4x100 relay team. Senior Jay Patterson won the region championship in the 100 meter and was also a part of the 4x100 relay region champion team. Patterson was also the region runner up in the 200 meter and the long jump. Seniors Desmond Curry and Matt Sanchez were both a part of the region champion 4x400 relay team and senior Gene Walker was part of the region champion 4x100 relay team. Senior Ryan Bowman was the region runner up in the shot put.

The Bobcats will compete in Jefferson on May 10-12 to try to match or better last year’s State runner-up finish.
