McIntosh and Whitewater girls join Starr's Mill in soccer quarterfinals

The McIntosh Lady Chiefs faced Dutchtown on the road on Tuesday night and won 5-0, while Whitewater's Lady Wildcats traveled to Lee County and won 3-2 in a very physical game.

Kate Marnock had two goals and an assist for McIntosh, while Meghan O'Rourke, Devon Fischer and Olivia Tucker each scored one goal. Kaelyn Horton added two assists and Kerri Reid had one.

Brittany Vining had two goals and an assist for Whitewater, while Erin Emerson scored the other goal. Holly Crawford and Emily Culbreth also had assists in the game.

The wins put the two teams in the Class AAAA quarterfinals and, should they win their game on Friday, the county rivals will meet again next Tuesday.

McIntosh, ranked third in AAAA, will host the seventh ranked St. Pius team at 5:30 p.m., while Whitewater, ranked fourth, will host Lakeside-Dekalb at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. McIntosh and Whitewater have faced their quarterfinal opponents previously this season and won. The Lady Chiefs defeated St. Pius 2-0 on March 21 and Whitewater beat Lakeside-DeKalb 1-0 on March 6.

Starr's Mill, ranked seventh, faced Thomas County Central on Monday and won 10-0.

Carlie Banks scored three goals and recorded two assists and Katrina Frost also scored three goals and had one assist.Meghan Kory knocked in two goals, Laura McCalla had one goal and four assists, Shannon Hall added one goal, Lauren Swany had two assists and Brittany Schwanitz had one assist in the win.

They are awaiting the winner of tonight's game between North Springs and Chapel Hill.
