Richard Eugene Thornton, 72, Fayetteville, died April 22, 2007. He was a retired veteran of the United States Navy where he served in Vietnam. Graveside services were at the Jonesboro City Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Grovenstein officiating. Survivors include brothers, Charles Thornton, Billy Thornton, and Thomas Banks; and a sister, Margaret Odom. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P. O.
