Match-ups in state soccer playoffs setFri, 04/20/2007 - 3:00pm

The times for next week’s games haven’t all been set yet, but the local teams heading to the state soccer playoffs know who they will be facing. The Mcintosh boys (15-0-2) ranked number one in Class AAAA and number two in the nation, according to an National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll, will host Glynn Academy (13-5) next Wednesday. Starr’s Mill’s boys (10-2-3), ranked third in AAAA, will host Lakeside-Evans (8-7-3) next Wednesday at 6 p.m. The McIntosh Lady Chiefs, which defeated Harrison, Class AAAAA’s number one team, 1-0 on Wednesday will host Evans (11-5) on Tuesday. Meghan O’Rourke scored the lone goal in the Harrison game, while Erin Pincombe, Tawny Moffatt and Rachel Barnette did a terrific job shutting down a formidable offense. Starr’s Mill and Whitewater’s girls will be on the road. The sixth ranked Lady Panthers (9-3-1) will play at Greenbrier (16-2), which is ranked fifth in AAAA at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Lady Wildcats (9-5-1), ranked fourth in AAAA, will play at Lakeside, Evans (13-5). In Class AAAAA, East Coweta’s boys and girls, both seeded second in region 4-AAAAA, will host first round playoff games. The boys (10-7) will host Warner Robins (8-6-1) on Wednesday and the girls will host Tift County (8-7) on Wednesday. |
