On April 22, Wigs For Kids will benefit from the second annual cut-a-thon at NV Hair Studio in Peachtree City.

Wigs For Kids is a non-profit organization that makes human hair wigs for children who suffer from alopecia, cancer or any other medical condition that causes hair loss.

The organization made a difference in the life of Fayette County resident Elizabeth Gilbert, when she was just 16 months old. Now a fourth-grader at Our Lady of Victory, Gilbert was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata when she was just over a year old. “We continually struggled with hairstyles and hair loss until she completely lost her hair at age 8,” said Elizabeth’s mother, Wendy Gilbert. “We found Wigs For Kids. Immediately they came to our aid, completely took the cost factor out of the equation and helped my daughter and our family, so that she could look, play, swim and be just like all of the other kids.”

Because of what Wigs For Kids has done for Elizabeth, the Gilberts volunteered to do a second cut-a-thon this year so that others could donate their hair for a good cause. On April 22 from 1 to 5 p.m., NV Hair Studio, 1301 Commerce Drive in Peachtree City, will host the second annual Cut-A-Thon for Wigs For Kids. People of all ages are encouraged to join in the fun of raising pony tails, financial donations and awareness for this organization. Stylists will donate their time that day so that donors can schedule hair cuts for love. Each pony tail donor will receive a free hair cut, a t-shirt and goody bag that day. A silent auction, raffle and music will also be features of the event.
