Shenaz Lilywala, a McIntosh’s High School student, has been selected as a recipient of the High School Student of the Year 2007, awarded by the Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese Georgia Chapter (AATSP-GA), for her love of learning and passion for knowledge of the Spanish language demonstrated throughout all her high school years.

Lilywala has maintained a record of excellence in the Spanish classroom, and has been selected for membership in the Spanish National Honor Society. She competed in the Foreign Language Association of Georgia (FLAG) spoken language contest, always with a superior rating, The Spanish Composition Contest, and the Clemson University poetry declamation.

Lilywala is a junior in her sponsoring teacher, Shannon Knight’s, Spanish class at McIntosh. This year she has been nominated for the Governor’s Honors Program in Spanish, and is currently awaiting the committee’s decision about attending the summer program. For her senior year, she has been accepted to take the advanced placement Spanish class. Lilywala has also been an active member in the Spanish Club during high school. This year, she is serving as president of the club.

For this honor, Lilywala will be receiving an engraved plaque from the Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese Georgia Chapter.
