Hugh Pierce, 92, Fayetteville, died April 10, 2007. He was born Dec. 1, 1914 in Sycamore, Ga. He had served in the United States Army serving four years active duty and 17 in the reserves, retiring with the rank of major. He was a councilman for 12 years for the city of Atlanta. He was a lifelong member and lay speaker for the United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Fayetteville Masonic Lodge #711, F&AM, and had been a Master Mason for over 50 years. He had served as an executive with Gordon Foods for 25 years. Services were at the Hopewell United Methodist Church, Tyrone, with the Rev. Scott Pickering officiating. Interment was at Greenwood Cemetery, Atlanta. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Pierce; daughters, Elaine Pierce, and Sharon Pierce, both of Fayetteville; and brothers, Charles Pierce, and Alva Roy Pierce, both of Thomaston. Memorial donations may be made to the Hopewell United Methodist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 70, Tyrone, GA 30290. Parrott Funeral Home, Fairburn, was in charge. login to post comments |
