• Alexandra Woycheck, a freshman from Fayetteville, has been chosen for Phi Delta Epsilon, an international medical fraternity at Oglethorpe University. Woycheck attended Sandy Creek High School and is now majoring in chemistry at Oglethorpe. Oglethorpe’s Alpha Chapter of Phi Delta Epsilon is a pre-medical honor society. Its purpose is to foster and achieve bonding among physicians of high moral character devoted to education and philanthropy for a lifetime. The chapter hopes to promote the highest scientific, educational and ethical standards in the field of medicine, medical teaching and research. Phi Delta Epsilon also promotes nonprofit group service to the community and discussions of current social and economic issues related to medicine.

• Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Christen L. Peisel has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. She is the daughter of Todd Peisel of Senoia, Ga., and Sharon Cutright of Atlanta, Ga. Peisel is a 2004 graduate of Starr's Mill High School, Peachtree City, Ga.

• William Alexander Ames, Chelsie Elizabeth Cobb, Julie Diana Dye, Taylor Joy Gillen, Courtney Lynn Jansen, Carley Marie Kleckner, Stacy Diane Riddell, and Daniel Alexander Ruy, all from Fayette County, were recently inducted into Pi Eta, the Gordon College chapter of the international honor society Phi Theta Kappa. In order to be inducted, a student must have completed 15 hours of coursework at Gordon College and have earned a grade point average of 3.5 or better.
