As Fayette County prepares to roll out the welcome mat for the 2007 Tour de Georgia, the Peachtree City Local Organizing Committee (LOC) is pleased to announce that Comcast, the nation’s leading provider of cable entertainment and communications products and services, has been named one of the top local sponsors for the Stage One Overall Start of the 2007 Tour de Georgia. The Tour de Georgia, North America’s premier professional cycling event and rolling festival, will take cyclists and spectators through 12 Host Venues: Peachtree City, Macon, Thomaston, Rome, Chattanooga, Tenn., Chickamauga, Lookout Mountain, Brasstown Bald Mountain, Dalton, Lake Lanier Islands, Stone Mountain Park, and Atlanta GA. The race will cover over 600 miles in seven days, from April 16 to April 22. “Comcast is proud to be connected to the Fayette Community and a sponsor of this exciting event,” said Andy Macke, senior director of Government Affairs for Comcast’s Atlanta region. “Our support of this event, which highlights Peachtree City, is just one way Comcast honors its commitment to make a meaningful and measurable difference in the communities we serve.” As a local sponsor for the Tour de Georgia, Comcast will air a series of regional Public Service Announcements through race day, April 16. In addition to the sponsorship, Comcast plans to complement its ongoing support of the community with an expanded offering of local programming within the next few months. Comcast will also be one of many local sponsors exhibiting at the Stage One Start Line Festival where fans and spectators will enjoy food, music and a variety of activities for all ages. The Stage One Start Line Festival begins at 10 a.m. with the popular Autograph Alley/Rider Sign-in opening at 11:30 a.m. and the Stage One Start—Peachtree City to Macon—starts at 1 p.m. For more information about the Tour de Georgia visit www.tourdegeorgia.com.
