These Flat Rock Middle teachers are exceptionalTue, 04/10/2007 - 3:57pm

My son has been enrolled in the Fayette County School System for four years. He started fifth grade at Burch Elementary and then went to Flat Rock for middle school. I have never had much of a problem with him; he is usually very conscientious, worked hard and cared about his grades, until this year. I don’t know what happens to boys when they reach the eighth grade. He has completely lost his mind. I don’t know if it’s puberty and all the hormones raging, girls, peer pressure or the need to test his boundaries; most likely all of the above. While I have been struggling with this child this year, I can not say enough about the teachers at Flat Rock Middle School. Not only are they wonderful educators, but on any given day they find themselves in a variety of roles that we often don’t consider. I am dealing with one defiant teen. They have 150 or more going through their doors every day. The teachers at Flat Rock, especially the teachers on 8C, Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Clough, Mrs. Gibby, Mrs. Hughes, Mrs. Lorber, and Mrs. Sparrow are exceptional. My son has tested their patience and my limits beyond measure this year. These ladies have kept me informed and up to date on his academic progress and rebellious attitude. They have remained positive and supportive to both me and my son, always encouraging him to do his best and talking with him while holding him accountable for his actions. They have truly gone beyond anything I could imagine. There is no way I can express my gratitude for all that they do. We are truly blessed to have these types of teachers in our school system.
