Starr’s Mill swimmers victorious in tri-meetThu, 12/01/2005 - 4:06pm

Starr’s Mill finished first in their meet against Salem, Fayette County, and Whitewater High held at Washington Park on Nov. 17. The men won five out of 11 events with senior Scott Adams and sophomore Matt Boyle winning two events each, Adams had wins in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke, while Boyle won in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly. In addition, the men’s Medley Relay took first place and qualified for the state championship in February. Members of that relay team were Adams, Boyle, junior Austin Ellyson and senior Danny Clasen. The Starr’s Mill women dominated the field with wins in 10 out of 11 events. Double winners include freshman Bailey Cartwright in the 100 backstroke and 200 Freestyle and junior Lauren Cartwright in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly, both in state qualifying times. Individual winners were freshman Katie Haycraft in the 500 freestyle and senior Mackenzie Garrot in the 100 freestyle. The women also qualified several relays for state; the medley relay of Cartwright, Garrot, frshman Lauren Scott and Haycraft, the 200 freestyle relay team of Cartwright, Cartwright, Garrot, and Larson and the 400 freestyle relay team of Scott, Haycraft, Larson, and Cartwright. login to post comments |
