Fayette Senior Services will provide transportation to the 21st annual Mayor’s one-mile and 5K walk at Grant Park on Tuesday May 1 for a limited number of people. If you are a walker and enjoy friendly senior competition in a beautiful park setting this event is for you. Registration is $10 and must be sent in by April 6. The walk, which includes lunch, is from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Awards are given for first, second and third place walkers, but everyone is a winner when it comes to staying fit. If you would like to join the group, please contact Susan at 770-461-0813. Remember, space is limited so call now.

An intensive Diabetes Education class will be offered at the Friendship Center on April 23 from 9:30 to 11:30. The class is free and the public is welcome. For more information contact Susan at 770-461-8013.

Fayette Senior Services will be happy to conduct a “Living Well” workshop for your church, social or work group at the site of your choice. This comprehensive, non-disease specific workshop is designed by Stanford University to teach those with ongoing symptoms of chronic disease or their caregivers how to have more control over their health and life. Techniques taught in the class will help improve strength, flexibility and endurance as well as improve communication with family, friends and health professionals. The workshop is offered over a six week period of time for two and a half hours a session. Cost for all six sessions is only $10. Please contact Susan at 770-461-0813 to arrange for a workshop to be conducted for your group or to reserve a space in our next workshop.
